Trucks and SUVs are often asked to do things that passenger cars rarely handle. Towing trailers, carrying heavier loads, climbing grades, driving off-road, and moving through stop-and-go traffic all create extra heat inside the transmission. That does not mean every truck or SUV automatically needs an oversized cooler. The right amount of cooling depends on the transmission design, vehicle weight, towing capacity, factory cooling system, and how the vehicle is actually used. What matters most is keeping transmission fluid within a safe operating range when the drivetrain is working hard.
