I have a 2009 Audi A3 Quattro that was ready for its 35K service. I bought the car used, and Audi warranty no longer covers service updates. For this car, the service recommends replacing several pretty expensive fluids, and Audi shops are notoriously pricy for their work. Village Auto tested all of the fluids first to see which truly needed replacing, and found that most of them were still in great shape. They could easily have told me I needed to replace everything, and the bill would've been $800+. Instead, I got out of there for about $300. They even did a full inspection at a reduced rate since I was also getting an oil change. I can see why so many people recommend them, and will definitely be going back.
